I love giving plant material a second life and challenging my creative abilities by making unique woven creations of various shapes and sizes.
I started weaving in 2014 as a teenager, initially making baskets and Christmas wreaths.
Since then, I have been drawn to weaving complex animals, both big and small, as well as covering the outside of glass vessels in woven materials, creating organic usable vases. I still make baskets and wreaths – it all depends on the natural materials I have available to me.
I source my plant material from my garden maintenance work, as well as storm damaged shrubs, trees and fallen branches. I’m committed to sustainability by reusing discarded or excess materials. I am also happy to use suitable plant material that you have collected yourself that I can turn into a special creation for you!
My more intricate sculptures are fully woven. I start with an internal woven core and then I work outwards weaving integrated layers to build up to the final outer structure and shape. I do not use internal wiring or frameworks to hold items together.
